Combining English and Film provides a unique opportunity to acquire key interpretive skills in both the written and cinematic mediums, as well as to ask serious questions about how representation, culture and politics work in both literature and film.
Programme content
In Film you will study early, classical and contemporary cinema, read theoretical and historical accounts from media studies and adjacent disciplines and build an awareness of film in its social and cultural contexts.
In English you will take courses on the key periods and traditions of writing in English, and develop your interests in one (or more) of the key areas offered by the School, e.g. Medieval, Renaissance, Victorian or Modern Literature, or Anglo-Irish, Post-colonial or American writing
Entry Requirements
Students must present six subjects of which two must be at grade C or above at Advanced GCE (A-Level. Others must be at least at grade C or above on GCSE or Advanced Subsidiary GCE (AS) papers. The six subjects above must include:English, Mathematics and a language other than English.
